(Istituto Universitario Salesiano de Venezia, Italia) – Father George Thanathil, General Coordinator of IUS (Salesian Institutions of Higher Education), visited the IUSVE campus in Mestre on Tuesday, October 21st as part of his project to connect and enhance the various Salesian institutions worldwide working in university and higher education.

He met with IUSVE particularly through some of its academic and pastoral expressions, such as the “Youth and Future Observatory,” the university radio station Cube Radio, the Sports Academy, the Educational Pastoral Community Council, and the Faculty Assembly. He was also able to share in the joy of the numerous celebrations of new graduates who populate the Campus during this thesis defense session period.

In his address to the educational pastoral community and Faculty Assembly, through a dialogical and participatory approach, he presented the most important points of his mandate:

• the growth of the IUS network, institutions with their now century-old history and their active and dynamic presence on all continents;
• training centered on the cornerstones of the IUS mission and vision, namely the Salesian Preventive System, lived out in an academic context;
• the work of deepening and dialogue on inclusion, participation, and facilitation as processes typical of the preventive system;
• the enhancement of how the Salesian charism is lived and applied in diverse cultural and religious contexts.

Finally, plans were made for the next meetings, at continental and global levels, scheduled to take place in Rome in 2026.
