(Don Bosco College, Maram) – The institution, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, organised a two-day Orientation-cum-Career Guidance Programme on July 14–15 for 360 newly admitted undergraduate students, introducing them to the institution’s educational philosophy while preparing them for academic success and future careers.
The programme, held on the college campus, was facilitated by a six-member resource team from Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Services (DBYES) and the AIDA–Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Dimapur. The team comprised Rev. Fr. Theotimus Lakra SDB, Bro. Phikow Paul SDB, Bro. Dhiraj Bhengra SDB, Mrs Clare Mahung, Mr Alan Paul, and Mr Sebi Chacko.
Designed to ease students into college life, the programme combined interactive sessions, practical activities and motivational discussions, encouraging active participation while introducing freshers to the values and expectations of the Don Bosco educational system.
A major focus of the orientation was holistic development, helping students bridge the transition from school to higher education and future employment. Sessions covered self-awareness, self-confidence, teamwork, communication skills, leadership, personality development, discovering life’s purpose, and addressing contemporary youth issues. Participants also explored topics such as digital life, artificial intelligence, online realities, multiple intelligences and emerging career opportunities.
The resource persons emphasised the importance of informed career planning, adaptability and lifelong learning in an increasingly technology-driven world. Students were encouraged to cultivate discipline, leadership and a spirit of service alongside academic excellence.
