The Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS) join the Salesian Family in mourning the passing of Fr Carlos Garulo Ena, SDB, a devoted priest, educator and visionary leader whose life was deeply committed to the formation of young people and to the mission of the Salesian Congregation.

Fr Carlos played a decisive role in the development and consolidation of the international network of Salesian Institutions of Higher Education. Through his leadership, pastoral sensitivity and remarkable ability to build relationships, he fostered greater communion, cooperation and a shared sense of mission among Salesian universities and higher education institutions across the world.

From 2001 to 2010, he served in the Youth Ministry Sector at the Salesian Generalate, where he contributed his extensive educational experience and his unwavering commitment to the charism of Don Bosco. His work helped strengthen international collaboration and encouraged Salesian higher education institutions to serve young people with academic excellence, human responsibility and pastoral dedication.

We remember Fr Carlos with profound gratitude for his faithful service, his generosity and the lasting legacy he leaves within the IUS network and the wider Salesian community.

We unite in prayer with the Salesian Province of Spain–Mary Help of Christians, his family, his confreres and all those who shared his human and Salesian journey.

May the Lord welcome Fr Carlos into His eternal peace and reward him for the abundant good he sowed throughout his life and mission.
