The ceremony, held at the college auditorium on February 13, saw the distribution of certificates to 35 participants from diverse backgrounds, marking the culmination of their journey into the realm of counselling psychology.

 

Father Jose Koyickal, the Provincial of the Salesian Province of Bangalore, graced the occasion and presented the certificates to the accomplished graduates. The event was a moment of pride for the graduates and the entire institution, symbolizing their commitment to mental health and well-being.

 

Throughout the course, participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip them with fundamental and advanced skills in counselling psychology. Father Kuriakose Pallikunnel SDB, with his dedicated team from the Department of Psychology, provided invaluable insights into various aspects, including Basic and Advanced Skills in Counselling, Conflict Resolution and Peaceful Communication, and Psychological First Aid. The program included supervised practices and written assignments, ensuring a holistic learning experience for all attendees.

 

In his address during the graduation ceremony, Father Koyickal underscored the critical importance of mental health in today’s society, emphasizing the role of trained professionals in providing support and guidance to those in need. Father Bastin, the Head of the Department of Journalism and Manager of the College echoed these sentiments, urging the graduates to extend a compassionate ear to those around them and decipher the unspoken struggles of others.

 

The participants, reflecting on their transformative journey, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage in such a meaningful program. Mercy Maria, one of the participants, shared her profound experience, highlighting self-transformation as the most significant achievement of the course.

 

The successful completion of the Certificate Course in Counselling Psychology not only signifies the personal growth of the graduates but also reflects the commitment of Don Bosco College to fostering mental health awareness and providing valuable resources to the community.
