Don Bosco College Panjim's Extension Committee initiates Breast Cancer Screening Camp conducted by the YouWeCan Fight Cancer Foundation, India

 

(Don Bosco College, Panjim) Don Bosco College Panjm, took the initiative of fighting cancer by organising a, Breast Cancer Screening Camp for the community of Cortalim on Friday November 11, 2022 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Saint Joseph Vaz College, campus Cortalim.

 

The Camp was conducted by the YouWeCan Fight Cancer Foundation launched by international cricketing icon and humanitarian, Yuvraj Singh. Around 80 women got themselves screened. More than 20 students between the age group of 20-25 years also got themselves physically examined to clear their doubts. Overall the program was very well organized.

 

The camp was held in collaboration with Saint Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim. The college helped providing the necessary setup and arrangements as per the requirements given by the NGO staff. At the camp, clinical breast screening test, physical breast examination and early detection of breast cancer was done. Volunteers together with the public health staff, helped the participants at the camp to conduct the various tests.

 

Women of the local community were very happy to get tested and receive a negative or normal report for the same. Many women expressed their positive views about the camp and suggested various areas in Goa where such camps needs to be organised.

 

The camp was very fruitful with a positive response from the community. The NGO staff and doctors as well as Saint Joseph Vaz College appreciated the initiative taken by the DBC Panjim for showcasing the care and support for the community and expressed a continued relationship for any such camps to be conducted in future.
