The Mass Communication and Journalism students of Salesian College Siliguri and Students of Don Bosco School Oodlabari in neighbouring Jalpaiguri district have teamed up to produce short radio dramas to create awareness on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Radio Salesian 90.8 FM .

(Salesian College Sonada, Siliguri) – The Mass Communication and Journalism students of Salesian College Siliguri and Students of Don Bosco School Oodlabari in neighbouring Jalpaiguri district have teamed up to produce short radio dramas to create awareness on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One radio drama each is prepared for the 17 SDG goals.

 

The programme will be launched on World Radio Day (WRD) on February 13 and broadcast on Radio Salesian 90.8 FM – The Voice of the Hills, the first college-based community radio of North Bengal and entire northeast India.

 

A team of six students from Don Bosco School Oodlabari in Jalpaiguri district recorded their first radio program on SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions at Radio Salesian studio in Darjeeling on January 29.

 

The shows recorded by college students in Salesian College Siliguri studio by Media Lab assistant Mr Badsha Das are packaged for radio by RJ Wang Lama in Sonada.

 

The 17 SDGs are No poverty, Zero hunger, Good health and well-being, Quality education, Gender equality, Clean water and sanitation, Affordable and clean energy, Decent work and economic growth, Industry, innovation and infrastructure, Reduced inequalities, Sustainable cities and communities, Responsible consumption and production, Climate Action, Life below water, Life on land, Peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Partnerships for the goals.
