VanitAgrata - Computer Literacy Project for Women, from Assam Don Bosco university Holds Free Digital Literacy Training for Woman and Children of Rural Areas

(Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati) –A free digital literacy training on “Basics of Desktop Publishing” was organized by VanitAgrata the women empowerment cell of Assam Don Bosco University on 30 May 2022.

The participants were the little girls of State Home for Women, Jalukbari, Guwahati who are provided shelter and training for rehabilitation. The journey of VanitAgrata began in the year 2015 with the motto “By the Women, For the Women” and it is continuously striving to provide free digital training to empower female children and women of Assam.

This one-day training has been conducted in a full-time mode, involving lectures, practical sessions, demos and hands-on practices on Desktop Publishing. As mentioned by author Steve Ehrmann, one key to enhancing learning is to “think with the technology rather than thinking about it.” Keeping this in mind,

VanitAgrata will keep on frequently carrying out such social commitment drives on digital literacy training to rural female children and women so as to be able to bridge the digital divide and bring gender equality.

VanitAgrata – Computer Literacy Project for Women: Vanit Agrata is the Women Empowerment Cell of the University under the leadership of female faculty members. It provides skill training on some modern tools and technologies to the semi-literate rural women in the areas like Basic Computer Training, using mobile phones, banking transactions, housekeeping, use of the internet etc.
