(Salesian College, Sonada) – On 28 October, Salesian College in Sonada experienced a significant moment in its institutional journey, when the founder and Director of Radio Salesian, Fr C.M. Paul, officially announced the appointment of Fr Pritam Barla as the new Director of the community radio station.
The appointment was made by the President of the College Board and Superior of the Salesian Province of Calcutta, Fr Joseph Pauria. ‘Radio Salesian 90.8 FM – The Voice of the Hills’ was founded in 2016 and has since played a pioneering role in youth engagement and educational outreach, earning national recognition for its inclusive programming and impact at the local level.
Almost half of its programmes are co-created with local listeners and residents, ensuring that the voices of every sector, including those of the neighbouring tea plantation population, are heard, respected and represented.
Fr Barla has already served as Deputy Director of Radio Salesian for the past two years, actively contributing to its outreach and pastoral presence. His appointment as Director now reflects a continuity of vision and a renewed commitment to community-led media.
