Virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the IUS (VIII General Assembly of the IUS)

 

On 29 October the virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the IUS was held, with the participation of the different continental and regional coordinators: Dr. Mario Olmos and Don José Marinoni (IUS America), Don Dieudonnè Otekpo (IUS Africa); Dr. Andreu Moreno (IUS Europe) and Don Alex Garces (IUS East Asia Oceania)

 

The meeting confirmed the conducting of the next General Assembly, from 13 to 19 July 2021, at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome.

 

The aim of the Assembly will be to reflect and plan the path of the IUS in response to the current context and, at the same time, in fidelity to its Salesian identity and mission.

 

In the Assembly, it is expected to define the new document on Policies for the period 2021-2025, the definition of the Common Programme 6, and the approval of application strategies of “Orientations for Campus Ministry in the IUS.”

 

The virtual meeting also allowed to recognize the paths the IUS are taking in various continents and regions.

 

One of the topics to be addressed in the Assembly has to do with post-pandemic strategies for higher education. As digital communication technologies have played an essential role in education during this time and have become widespread that they are revolutionizing the way of producing, transmitting , disseminating and managing knowledge.

 

The IUS are preparing the next global meeting by evaluating their policies and updating their information that will increasingly contribute to the presence of the Salesian Congregation in higher education, providing the youth with quality and identity according to the charism inherited from Don Bosco.

 

The virtual meeting ended with the greeting of Fr. Miguel Angel Garcia, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, and a vote of thanks to Don Tarcizio Morais for his support.
