(Universidad Don Bosco, San Salvador) – Through the Department of Art and Culture, The UDB organizes the Latin Cultural Diffusion Network of the Salesian Institutions of Salesian Higher Education IUS. The purpose of the Network is to share artistic-cultural experiences that enrich their academic communities’ educational processes.
Among the Universities that currently make up this project are the Universidad Don Bosco de El Salvador (UDB), Universidad Salesiana de Bolivia (USB), Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez de Chile (UCSH), Universidad Politécnica Salesiana de Ecuador (UPS), Universidad Salesiana de Argentina – UNISALAR e Instituto Superior Juan XXIII.
Some of the Network’s initiatives have started under the virtual modality, using various technological communication platforms. So far the program includes shows by artists from each country and artistic groups from each institution. The exchange of educational activities such as workshops and online sessions, among others.
For Norma Cortez, director of the Department of Art and Culture of the UDB, this cultural exchange process represents a magnificent opportunity to work under the spirit of family, strengthening the ties of cooperation and integration. Also, it enriches the educational processes of our communities, who will experience the cultural wealth and artistic expression of other nations, representing a valuable opportunity for the development of fundamental intercultural skills in people today.

Marvel Iriarte Villanueva, head of Cultural Diffusion of the USB, states that “our fundamental objective is to promote cultural diffusion in Bolivian society in correspondence with Christian inspiration and the Salesian charism, to turn the USB into a center academic, cultural and spiritual reference. That is why we develop and implement various cultural programs that support students and the general public, who will benefit from this alliance between Salesian universities”.
The displays have been promoted from the cultural department areas of each university. Students and their entire academic community have had the opportunity to appreciate virtual concerts by Brazilian, Uruguayan, Chilean, and Viennese artists from the comfort of their homes.
