(Escola Universitària Salesiana de Sarrià, Barcelona) -The donation of € 12,000 from an individual and with a remainder of € 12,871.84 from the 2019-2020 academic year has allowed the Escola Universitària Salesiana de Sarrià (EUSS) to open an extraordinary call for the scholarships offered by the Rinaldi Foundation.
With the amount of almost € 25,000, a dozen new students or students who wish to transfer will have access to a scholarship. The application must be submitted between September 30 and October 2. The students who requested the scholarship in the ordinary call for July will participate directly without doing the process again.
The initial scholarship budget for the 2020-2021 academic year was € 110,000, which were increased in July by € 20,000 as a result of the savings generated by the closure of the facilities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is the first time that the EUSS has offered an extraordinary call for study aid of this manner. Thanks to a large unexpected generous donation from an individual who has asked to remain anonymous, the university’s scholarship fund for the course reaches € 155,000.
With the call the las call of shcolarship in July the university has doubled the scholarships of student aid compared to the past semester and also increase by 50% the scholarships of collaboration. In total, a number of 73 scholarships have been awarded, more than half of the petitioned.
The EUSS offers three types of scholarships::
- Study aid: A 25% direct discount on tuition.
- Collaboration: financial ability to perform 150 hours of supervised collaboration and assistance tasks in departments or services of the institution.
- Don Bosco: for students who have studied in a Salesian school, this option allows coursing the degree at a public price, with the commitment to perform 200 hours of collaborative and assistance tasks.
Traditionally, the EUSS had made separate calls for each type of scholarship, but due to the current situation, this year it was decided to make a general call to redistribute the budget at the time of granting student aid, depending on their needs.
The situation caused by the health crisis has been reflected in an increase in applications for scholarships: 143 in total, of which 81 for study aid, 53 for collaboration, and 9 Don Bosco. At the moment of evaluating the standards to grant the scholarships, family and personal situations have been taken into account such illnesses, Temporary Employment Regulation Records (ERDs), or unemployment.
The Rinaldi Foundation scholarships are compatible with those awarded by public administrations
