(Università Pontificia Salesiana, Roma) – As part of the high-quality formation programme promoted by the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in collaboration with the World Youth Ministry Sector, a significant moment of sharing and joint formation took place on the morning of 4 February on the theme: “The CEP, an educational model”.

Over 30 people from different parts of Europe and other Salesian circumscriptions took part in the initiative, which was an intense experience of communion and formative growth. The meeting was led jointly by Fr Jerry Matsoumbou and Ms Antonella Sinagoga, both members of the World Youth Ministry Sector.

The day’s programme included a rich and varied itinerary: from the initial welcome to a visit to the Don Bosco Museum of the Sacred Heart, to an in-depth study of the Educational-Pastoral Community (CEP) in its biblical, charismatic and ecclesiological foundations. In this context, Salesians and lay people involved in Don Bosco’s works were able to exchange ideas, listen to each other and renew their desire to strengthen an increasingly co-responsible collaboration in the mission, in the light of the unique charism that unites them.

As an African proverb reminds us, ‘It takes a whole village to educate a child’: starting from this wisdom, the formation clearly reaffirmed that only men and women of communion, collaboration and participation can effectively carry on Salesian pastoral ministry today. This conviction is in full harmony with the invitation of Christus Vivit, which states: ‘youth ministry cannot but be synodal’ (cf. n. 206).

The day ended with the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by the General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr Rafael Bejarano, followed by a fraternal lunch, which further enhanced the atmosphere of communion and the beauty of the encounter
