(UniSALESIANO, Araçatuba e Lins) – September has traditionally been known to represent the month of awareness of childhood cancer, a heterogeneous disease that affects children and adolescents aged 0 to 19. These patients are characterized by gold, signifying how precious and beautiful children are, that is why the month was named “Golden September.”

To show the importance of the diagnosis of childhood cancer, mainly due to the relationship of its clinical course, the Academic Leagues of Oncology and Pediatrics of UniSALESIANO,, promote the 1st Symposium on Children’s Cancer on 22nd and 23rd of September, online.

“The Leagues assume their roles as social actors and recognize the need to talk about this issue since the disease represents different characteristics. For this reason, we invite trained professionals to give lectures on subjects we connect to the area.”

– Júlia Zefiro, academic

On September 22, the topics “Leukemia” were addressed by the pediatrician and pediatric hematologist, Dr.ª Cibele Castilho, and “Osteorssacoma”, by the pediatric oncologist, Dr.ª Viviane Sonaglio. On the 23rd, at 7 pm, a lecture on “Retinoblastoma” will be held by the ophthalmologist, Dr. Rogério Shinsato, followed by the talk on “Psycho-oncology of Children and Adolescents”, by the psychiatrist, Dr.ª Carolina Marçal, at 8 pm.

The link for registration can be requested on Instagram of the Academic League of Pediatrics Dom Bosco (@liga_peddb). The lectures are open to the public, free and certified. The transmission, which is recorded, happens through the channel of the Academic League of Oncology, on Youtube. – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRTIqIxxDPH2AltP-tnio-Q?view_as=subscriber.
