(Obra de Don Bosco en Rodeo del Medio, Mendoza) – Since 1901, the Don Bosco Faculty located in Rodeo del Medio, in the Province of Mendoza, Argentina, has been a benchmark in oenology and the fruit and vegetable industry, being recognised as the ‘cradle of Argentine oenology’. It is a tradition that has been perpetuated over time and projected throughout the world, with distinguished graduates and degree holders who are prominent at the national and international level.
With great joy, the Rector of the Salesian house in Rodeo del Medio, Fr José Cordera, SDB, emphasises that this recognition is the result of ‘a process of hard work, strong commitment, constant support, and responsible management.’ Furthermore, the Salesian remarks that every day at the Don Bosco Faculty, the Salesians and the entire educational team seek to accompany the students, who show ‘a strong sense of belonging.’ In this vein, each educator accompanies the students so that they become not only excellent professionals but also ‘good Christians and upright citizens.’
The key to its success lies in its comprehensive formation where knowledge is learned by doing: vineyards, olive groves, state-of-the-art wineries, a canning factory, laboratories, and professional sensory analysis rooms are all part of the daily lessons that students engage in every day. In this way, at the Salesian house in Rodeo del Medio, students and teachers go through the entire production process together, from harvesting to commercialisation and marketing.
Although this path of excellence has been accompanied by awards year after year, 2025 has placed the Don Bosco Faculty at the top of Latin America, with a wide variety of products winning prestigious international competitions and an olive-growing project that has placed ‘Don Bosco’ extra virgin olive oil among the best in the world.
