(Third IUS EAO Conference, Manila) – The Second Day of the IUS East Asia & Oceania Continental Conference witnessed informative activities, elections of coordinators and discussions with the sole objective of creating a sustainable future for Salesian Higher Education in the EAO region.

 

The day started with an engaging panel discussion themed “The Use of Technology in Higher Education,” instructed by Fr. Jose Dindo Vitu, SDB, from Don Bosco Educational Centers – Philippines, and Ms. Anna Cherry Ramos from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. The session was adeptly moderated by Fr. Mangubat. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into the transformative role of technology in higher education.

 

The Fifth Session of the day saw the active participation of Fr. Oscar Lozano and Fr. Camaya in the election of the new EAO-IUS Coordinator. Fr. Ronilo Javines SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluyong, was elected as the newly appointed head of the coordination of the region. Additionally, to provide support to the new Continental Coordinator, a layperson was chosen, with Dr. Nongkas Catherine from Don Bosco Technological Institute East Boroko being entrusted with this significant role.

The sixth session had Fr. Javines and Ms. Silao (Moderator) present the topic “Way Forward for EAO IUS: Communion, Communication, Collaboration.” The discussion served as a vital mechanism for fostering synergy and unity among the IUS institutions. Participants explored strategies for enhancing collaboration and communication within our Salesian academic communities.

 

To culminate the activities of the second day of the authorities voted up on the new resolutions for the Salesian Institutions in the East Asia & Oceania Region that will establish guidelines for achieving quality education in the IUS.
