(ANS – Rome) – The Novena to Mary Help of Christians will begin tomorrow, Thursday 15 May 2025. It will accompany many consecrated and lay people of the Salesian Family on their spiritual journey to the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, an anniversary so dear to Don Bosco. The theme of the Worldwide Novena proposed this year to the whole Salesian Family – ‘Being children’ – is aimed at accompanying devotees of Mary Help of Christians in trusting abandonment to the most tender of mothers, allowing themselves to be accompanied by apparitions of Our Lady which bear witness to the continuous solicitude of the Heavenly Mother for her children on earth, the result of Jesus on the cross gave her (cf. Jn 19,26-27)
Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe… but also La Salette, Kibeho, Benneux or the Miraculous Medal of St Catherine Labouré. Given the constant flow of pilgrims from all over the world, or other devotions, they are all places and historical episodes in which Mary was close to humanity, often preferring encounters with simple and humble people, to bring us back to Jesus.
Through a commemorative journey of all this grace spread through time and space, and with the daily meditations of the Rector Major Fr Fabio Attard, this year the Salesian Family is invited to rediscover the essence of ‘being children’.
Already since 13 May, the video of the first day has been online in English, to allow the faithful from Oceania and East Asia to arrive prepared for the beginning of the novena; and from today the same video is also being put online in Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
The daily videos will be uploaded and made available day by day until the end of the Novena, on the eve of the feast, on the various language channels of ANSChannel and on the TELEGRAM SDB.ORG channel.
Also with the aim of worthily preparing for the celebration of the Novena and the feast, the booklet complete with all the texts, prayers, reflections and testimonies – accessible in the five languages already mentioned at the bottom of the page – is also made available.
