Victoria Max Represents Victoria Max Represents Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA) at the International Conference of Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Representatives at UNESCO, held under the theme 'Building Capacity for Action.'

(Don Bosco International Media Academy, Paris) – I had the distinct honor of attending the International Conference of Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Representatives at UNESCO, held under the theme ‘Building Capacity for Action.’ This esteemed event brought together global changemakers to explore innovative strategies that empower NGOs in advancing sustainability, innovation, and meaningful international partnerships.

The conference offered profound insights into how NGOs can play a pivotal role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through strategic collaboration and effective action, NGOs are uniquely positioned to drive progress in critical areas such as poverty eradication, education, public health, and environmental sustainability. Keynote addresses from leading figures in the NGO sector highlighted the importance of global solidarity and proactive engagement in addressing these pressing global challenges.

In addition to the enriching discussions and panels, I had the extraordinary opportunity to visit the historic UNESCO Headquarters in Paris—a symbol of global dialogue in education, science, and culture. Strolling through its iconic halls, I felt deeply connected to the organization’s mission of promoting international cooperation. One particularly memorable experience was reaching the rooftop, where I was met with stunning panoramic views of Paris—a fitting reflection of the global vision that UNESCO embodies.

A standout feature of the conference was the exploration of cinema and audiovisual media as powerful instruments for advocacy and social transformation. Sessions emphasized the impact of storytelling, documentary filmmaking, digital content creation, and immersive virtual reality in raising awareness, driving change, and engaging diverse audiences. These discussions have significantly influenced my perspective on media, reaffirming my dedication to leveraging audiovisual communication for positive societal impact.

I was also proud to represent Don Bosco International Media Academy (DBIMA) at the conference, sharing our institution’s commitment to creativity and innovation in cinema and audiovisual education. The event fostered valuable exchanges with fellow participants, opening doors for future collaboration and continued dialogue.

Based on this experience, I strongly advocate for greater student involvement in NGO-led initiatives. Participation in advisory boards, international conferences, and research presentations offers young people the chance to hone leadership skills, contribute to global discourse, and gain firsthand exposure to international advocacy. Furthermore, I emphasize the importance of integrating mental health and well-being programs into these initiatives, helping students balance academic responsibilities with personal development.

Attending the UNESCO International Conference of NGOs was a truly transformative experience. It broadened my global perspective, deepened my commitment to social impact through media, and expanded my network of like-minded individuals committed to positive change. The event reaffirmed the critical role of collaboration, innovation, and youth engagement in addressing the world’s most urgent challenges.
