The institution, Don Bosco Kilimanjaro International Institute of Telecommunications, Electronics and Computers (KIITEC) Joins the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education Network (IUS)

(Don Bosco KIITEC, Tanzania) – The institution, Don Bosco Kilimanjaro International Institute of Telecommunications, Electronics and Computers (KIITEC) in Arusha, is an institution that was originally begun by engineers from France and Mr. Francis Brochon a French philanthropist way back in 2004. The initiative was triggered by the personal experience of a few French Engineers being in an international hotel in Arusha where the non functioning lift and fax machines were awaiting foreign technicians for their repairs.

This experience triggered the institution which is now in its 21st year. It is presently managed by Salesians as Don Bosco Kilimanjaro International Institute of Telecommunication, Electronic and Computers and is one of the latest entrants into Salesian Higher Education network.

The Director of the College, Don Sebastian Chirayath sdb, a Fordham University Post Graduate has a master plan in place with Emerging Digital Technologies being the focus of Don Bosco KIITEC, Arusha, Tanzania and the development plans include providing facilities of diploma and degree courses for over 3000 students in the coming 5 years.

Fr George Thadathil SDB the Global Coordinator visited the institution still in it’s holidays but interacted with the director and a few members of the faculty at the Arusha Industrial Expo where they had a stall to showcase their products including a bottling plant model.

In the words of the director: “At present we have 250 students and offer Diploma programs in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Automation, Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Engineering. Next year we will be offering Diploma in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics and storage systems and Grid management.”

The inclusion of Don Bosco KIITEC in the IUS network reflects a shared commitment to academic quality, innovation, and the holistic formation of young people in the spirit of Don Bosco. With its cutting-edge programs and mission-driven leadership, KIITEC stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the youth of Tanzania and Africa region.
