No dia 5 de maio de 2025, o UniSales, Centro Universitário Salesiano de Vitória, no estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil, comemorou 25 anos de existência.

(Centro Universitário Salesiano UniSales, Vitória) – On 5 May 2025, UniSales, the Salesian University Centre in Vitória, in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was on 5 May 2000 that the Federal Official Gazette published a decree authorising the first courses of the then Salesian Faculty of Vitória.

The date marked the birth of a higher education institution in Espírito Santo, focused on building a path of collaboration with state education and aimed at promoting humanism, excellence and innovation guided by the values typical of a Salesian institution.

On that occasion, authorisations for courses in Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Nutrition were published in the Federal Official Gazette. Currently, the three courses are recognised as benchmarks in the capital of Espírito Santo and throughout the state.

Physical education

A graduate of the third cycle of students produced by the institution and current coordinator of the Physical Education course at UniSales, Professor Samuel Thomazini affirms that innovation with Salesian values has provided a formation closely linked to the daily reality of professional practice, which has allowed the course to position itself as a point of reference since its early years.

‘The Physical Education course at the then Salesian Faculty of Vitória, now UniSales, was created with the aim of being an innovative course, linked to the Salesian values of humanism and collaboration with the most needy sectors of society. This is positive for society and for the students who, since the course was founded, have had the opportunity to participate in practical formation that is recognised as a point of reference for the whole society of Espírito Santo,’ he said.

Physiotherapy

The Physiotherapy course also celebrates 25 years of tradition and professional recognition in the health sector. ‘These are 25 years of formation that have always been concerned with combining practice with the best and most up-to-date evidence. Thanks to this, we have built a successful faculty, where our graduates are our greatest asset, being recognised and respected in the professional market, not only in our state, but also throughout the country. We at the UniSales Faculty of Physiotherapy are proud to be “Salesians” and are very grateful for our history and for the contribution the course has made to society in general,’ said Prof. Rodrigo Daros, coordinator of the corresponding course.

Nutrition

For Professor Alessandra Rodrigues Garcia, coordinator of the Nutrition course at UniSales since 2006, the course has achieved a gratifying level of recognition from the Espírito Santo community.

‘It has always been a solid course. We are in a continuous process of improvement, but it has always been recognised by the job market, with committed teachers and a good curriculum, linked to a solid institution that has always sought quality in all its initiatives around the world. This is very gratifying,’ she said.

History: from the Salesian Catholic Faculty to the UniSales Salesian University Centre

Founded in 2000 as the Salesian Catholic Faculty, the current UniSales – Salesian University Centre – was recognised as a university centre by a decree published in the Federal Official Gazette on 19 July 2016.

To date, UniSales has embarked on a path of continuous modernisation of its teaching methods, based on the best global trends in higher education and focused on skills development, supported by Active Learning Methodologies.

Guided by Don Bosco’s vision – ‘learning to learn’ – UniSales seeks, through teaching, research and social responsibility, an active relationship with the labour market and a commitment to society. Equality, freedom, ethics, honesty, integrity, justice, solidarity and dignity guide the more than 25 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, both face-to-face and distance learning, which offer formation for the labour market and education for life.

Today, ‘UniSales’ is positioned as an institution in step with the times, constantly seeking innovation to make a difference in the experience of its students.
