(Centro Universitário Salesiano UniSales, Vitória) -The ‘UniSales’ Salesian University Centre based in Vitória, in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, closed 2025 with a double milestone for academic research: the launch of two new editions of the Ciência na Prática (v. 3, n. 2 y v. 4, n. 1). The publications feature significant technical advances that consolidate the institution’s scientific maturity: migration to the educational group’s official domain and the implementation of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) in all articles.
The release of the two volumes in December follows the successful completion of the migration to the new electronic address. The strategy ensured that both editions were already published with DOI registration and hosted in the new environment, which offers greater security, credibility and strengthens the institutional link of the publication with the Salesian brand.
Progress in academic research
The great strength of this double publication is its indexing via DOI. From now on, all published articles – both in edition v.3, n.2 and v.4, n.1 – will have this identifier, which functions as a “code” for digital documents, ensuring that the work is found and cited correctly anywhere in the world.
For Prof. Melissa de Freitas Cordeiro Silva, Coordinator of Research and Scientific Start-up at UniSales, this is a historic step for the university centre’s academic output: ‘This is a very important edition for us. The implementation of the DOI increases the visibility of authors and is a fundamental step towards indexing and better evaluation of the journal in the “Qualis CAPES” system,’ she explained, emphasising that the initiative enhances the work of researchers and broadens the reach of the knowledge generated on campus.
Recognition and social impact
The journal’s editorial evolution reflects UniSales’ commitment to academic excellence. The university’s Rector, Geraldo Adair da Silva, celebrated the milestone as a fundamental step towards the internationalisation of teaching: ‘The transition to the official domain and, in particular, the implementation of the DOI, raise the level of our scientific production, ensuring international recognition,’ said the Rector.
The impact of the publication goes beyond the boundaries of the academic world. According to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Alexandre Cardoso Aranzedo, the dissemination of these works is essential for the development of the community. He considered the launch a significant achievement, as the dissemination of scientific output ‘will contribute to the implementation of reflections and good practices within the Salesian community and society in general.’
