Patients are receiving Psycological help from Professionals of the UniSalesiano university at UNA (Universidade Aberta da Best Age), in the center of Araçatuba.

(UniSALESIANO, Araçatuba e Lins) – “I came because my son is undergoing therapy here and told me it would be a good idea. And I’m feeling better. They are helping me to understand what happened and accept it, which is what I have left now .” This is the testimony of a 42-year-old woman from Araçatuba, which portrays the need for psychological help to face her husband’s loss to Covid-19 this year.

Similar cases related to the testimony of the woman who stated that receiving psychotherapy sessions have helped express her feelings and feel alleviated are arriving at the Psychology Clinic of UniSALESIANO, which is stationed at UNA (Universidade Aberta da Best Age), in the center of Araçatuba.

For every ten people treated at the Clínica de Psicologia, eight report symptoms caused by the pandemic. According to the Coordinator of the Psychology career at Unisalesiano and supervisor of internships at the Clinic, Prof. Mirella Justi, most consultations are made with patients who lost their families to Covid-19 and were affected by the economic crisis, online study, among other circumstances.

“Anxiety is very high, as well as depression. We see people suffering from emotional issues, dissatisfied with life, with work, with families. With the recent resumption of the services of  the Psychology clinic, safely, we are managing to serve an average of 100 clients per week, though students enrolled in the last 4th and 5th semesters”

The psychologist, teacher, and supervisor of internships at the Clínica de Psicologia, Ana Mayra Berti Munhoz, stated that the pandemic increased the already existing situations. These conditions were worsened by the period of social isolation. “Our patients report emotional issues that have been overflowed, issues that affect personal and that the pandemic has made them unsustainable. That is why they are seeking psychological help, ” she expressed.

The psychologist, professor, and supervisor of internships at the Clinic, Ederson Ribeiro Costa, reports that he follows cases of anxious people who are unhappy and bothered with the situation. “They had to learn to live and rearrange life. In fact, It is about relearning.” When analyzing how important it is to work with these people, he recommended a reduced number of therapies with a key focus. “Three or four sessions are enough to heal or, at least, alleviate the need. If it’s necessary, the Psychology Clinic will send the patient to other services. ”

Those interested in the service should call (18) 3519-9128. The session costs R $ 5 – a resource for the maintenance of the Psychology Clini

The Pope

The President of UniSALESIANO, Fr. Luigi Favero, said that Pope Francis remembers, every time he makes a statement, “that we are all in the same boat” in this long period of epidemic. “Last week, the Pope published an encyclical, that is, a letter to the Catholic Church and the whole world. And the first words of this letter, which are also the theme of the letter, are these: We are all brothers and sisters and, in a family, everyone helps each other ”, quoted Fr. Luigi.

Following the Pope’s advice, Fr. Luigi stated that UniSALESIANO, through the Psychology Carrer and its professionals, makes available to those who want and need this opportunity of being helped during this delicate phase of the physical and psychological health. “The initiative of the Psychology career is very welcome, and we must remember that we are all brothers and sisters, all in the same boat, and we have to help each other because one’s good is the good of the other”, concluded the university president.
