
The 2026 IUS East Asia–Oceania (IUS-EAO) Conference will take place on 26–27 February 2026 at Don Bosco College Canlubang, Philippines, bringing together IUS Institutions from across the East Asia–Oceania region for strategic reflection, dialogue, and planning.eastport
The conference is expected to be inaugurated by the Salesian Youth Ministry Councillor, Don Rafael Bejarano, SDB, highlighting the importance of this gathering for the mission and future direction of Salesian higher education in the region.
Focus
Centered on the theme “Salesian Transformative Education,” the conference responds to the challenges faced by Salesian HEIs in a rapidly evolving educational landscape marked by technological change, shifting social realities, and new learner profiles.
Participants will reflect on the need for an interior renewal of identity, relationships, and institutional structures, firmly rooted in the Salesian Preventive System, while engaging in dialogue with contemporary frameworks such as Education 5.0, which emphasizes human-centered learning, ethical leadership, and social responsibility
Objectives
The conference aims to:
• Deepen the understanding of transformative education within the Salesian charism
• Promote participatory leadership and inclusive governance
• Share best practices in teaching, research, formation, and campus ministry
• Strengthen regional networking and collaboration among IUS-EAO institutions
• Review Programme Commun 6 (2022–2026) and develop a consolidated draft of Programme Commun 7 (2027–2031) as a roadmap for the next phase of regional collaboration
Key Themes and Plenary Sessions
The program is structured around four major plenary sessions:
• Transformative Education – instructional innovation, personalized learning, and character formation
• Campus Ministry – digital ministry, youth engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Transformational Leadership – interior renewal and shared responsibility
•Policy and Strategy Review – aligning current policies with future strategic direction..
Each plenary session will be followed by panel dialogues featuring institutions from the Philippines, Japan, Papua New Guinea, and East Boroko.
Conference Leadership
The conference is overseen by a Steering Committee chaired by Fr. Jeffrey Mangubat, SDB, IUS-EAO Coordinator and Rector-President of Don Bosco College Canlubang, with the support of Salesian and lay leaders from the host institution and the region
