(UniSALESIANO, Araçatuba)  – Last month, the ‘Meu Pet’ veterinary clinic, a partner of the ‘UniSALESIANO University Centre’ , recorded a historical record, reaching a total of 1,849 visits and exceeding the initial target set for the period by more than three times. This significant result demonstrates the growing confidence of the population in the service run by ‘UniSALESIANO’ and the team’s commitment to providing quality care.

The veterinary clinic in Araçatuba, part of the São Paulo State Government’s ‘Meu Pet’ programme, started operations on 9 March 2023, offering free care for dogs and cats. The São Paulo State Government financed and implemented the construction of the building and the purchase of furniture and equipment for the new facility, while the Salesian University is in charge of managing the services.

Thanks to the commitment of the staff, numerous surgeries were performed, as many as 167: a significant increase over what had been planned. The medical team performed a variety of operations, from more routine to more elaborate ones, such as orthopaedic operations, to restore mobility and quality of life to the animals. The high demand was also reflected in laboratory and imaging examinations. In July alone, 2,527 laboratory examinations were carried out, a much higher number than originally expected.

Despite the intense pace, tutor satisfaction remained high, reinforcing the clinic’s commitment to service quality. In fact, according to a satisfaction survey conducted during the month, 95 per cent of the clients rated the service of the reception and professionals as ‘very good’, 85 per cent rated the cleanliness of the rooms as ‘very good’ and 70 per cent approved of the availability of the schedule, while 85 per cent reported that there were no delays in the start of the service.

‘Everyone, from the reception desk to the doctors, was very kind and caring. This kind of assistance was really missing in our city. I am very happy and grateful for the service I received and would recommend the clinic to anyone who needs care for their pets,” said a customer.

For the clinic coordinator, Tatiane da Silva Poló, the July figures reflect the dedication of the entire team. “Our goal is always to offer a humanised and excellent service, combined with the necessary structure and technology to ensure the health and well-being of pets. These results show that we are on the right track and motivate us to continue improving our services,’ he emphasised.

According to Prof. Dr. André Ornellas, UniSALESIAN Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Research and Postgraduate Studies, this clinic is a source of pride for the entire institution, as it combines practical formation with an essential service for the community. ‘Seeing this growth and the satisfaction of the tutors confirms that we are fulfilling our mission of providing excellent teaching, research and care,’ he concluded.
