(Jabok, Czech Republic) – From May 18 – 19 the IUS Europe Continental Conference took place in the Salesian Institution Jabok Institute of Social Pedagogy and Theology located in Praga Czech Republic. The event brought together representatives from seven IUS institutions in the countries of Czech Republic, Spain, Italy and France.
Like the previous continental Conferences held in the America (IX Conference of the IUS America) and IUS South Asia (India) region, the main objective was to adapt the Policies 2022-2026 and the Common Program 6 documents that were approved at the VIII General Assembly of the IUS took place in Rome on January 2022.
On the first day, Fr Oscar Lozano general coordinator of the IUS presented the topic “General context of the 2022-2026 policies and plan”, followed by a discussion on IUS Europe 2023-2026 policies by Alessio Rocchi from the Istituto Universitario Salesiano Torino Rebaudengo (IUSTO) located in Italy.
The meeting also delivered on research topics being conducted by IUS institutions. Claudia Chiavarino Head of Research at IUSTO presented on its latest International Research project, Rubén Iduriaga Carbonero and Luis Moral Moreno from the CES Don Bosco (Madrid) gave updates on the activities of the IUS Education Group Network and presented a new collaborative research proposal.
To conclude the continental conference Alessio Rocchi along with the IUS members agreed upon various topics concerning the IUS and elaborated the Common Action Plan 2023-2026 for European IUS a document to guide the IUS of the European region in the upcoming years. The last session defined the next IUS Europe Assembly.
